Welcome to my world!

I'm a living historian of the American Fur Trade, circa 1825-1835. I belong to a group of women, a sisterhood, from around the US. We are The Women of the Fur Trade. You can find out more at our web site - www.womenofthefurtrade.com. I travel to many places and teach and practice the living history skills, that are lost arts. All of my clothing and accouterments are made by me for the most part. This includes tanning deer hides, making clothes from them, decorating them with either beadwork or with porcupine quillwork, hand-sewing all my clothes and other gear made of fabrics, as well as working towards the construction of a saddle of that time period.

I also have a farm and stables that I run in addition to my own cleaning business. Our farm and household menagerie of animals keeps me busy from sunup to sundown. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, 3 Indian Ringneck Parakeets, 2 pilgrim geese, a dozen chickens, 4 horses(one is a boarder), and a military macaw that is my "kid". In addition to running the
stable, I also train horses in the nicer months of the year, March - October.

Here is a picture of myself and my sisters in Idaho 2005.
I am 4th in from the left in the back row. We all have lots of fun together even if we are in another time. It's nice ya know, leaving the 21st century behind for a time and learning to do as it was done then. I've been invloved with living history for over 13 years and I love every minute.

Last October I joined Weight Watchers and have lost 29 pounds so far. I love the comments that have been made by family and friends - Wow look at you! One hot chick! Where did the old Candi go? I can't wait for this summer when I get to go see my sisters again and show them my new bod!

This is from an event in Pasco WA, last October, 2006, 2 weeks after joining Weight Watchers.

And This is from our horse camping trip last July, 2006

This was taken just after this Christmas 2006 and 29 pounds lighter!! Woo Hoo!!!
